Microsoft is preparing to debut an update to its Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, which includes expansion of its Cortana personal assistant availability to more regions. The update introduces Cortana to China and the UK in beta form, and Canada, India and Australia in alpha mode. Microsoft is challenging the authority of federal prosecutors to force it to hand over a customer’s email stored in a data center in Ireland. Preska of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York on Thursday upheld a  magistrate judge’s ruling  that Microsoft must turn over the customer’s emails, held in a Microsoft data center in Ireland.
